In 2014, we had the opportunity to work with the Randall’s Island Park Alliance when our firm was the Offices of Katie Osborn. The project included a thorough audit of the park’s wayfinding tools, analysis of its current state, and user research to understand navigational challenges, resulting in the rollout of a fully integrated, cohesive system. This year, we were able to add additional depth to the program with the creation of interpretive signage. Three systems were developed with unique imagery, themes, color palettes, and typography to showcase the Water’s Edge Garden, Saltwater Marsh, and Wetlands. This program allows visitors to understand the park’s flora and fauna at a new level, cultivating a deeper connection to the park and its natural environment.
