Via Collective is thrilled to announce that we will continue our work on the Penn Station Critical Improvements project as part of the Skanska-AECOM Phase 2 design-build team. In this capacity, Via Collective will implement the wayfinding design and strategy developed during the schematic design phase of this project, for both the temporary and permanent signage.
The launch of this project was announced by Governor Cuomo in September 2018, after many years of debate about how to improve Penn Station. This is the second phase of work, following a new LIRR entrance that is scheduled to open in December 2020.
The Phase 2 LIRR Train Hall renovations include an expansion of the 33rd Street corridor footprint, increased ceiling heights, replacement of existing finishes, and reimagined wayfinding. These improvements will contribute to increased safety, clearer sightlines, and streamlined pedestrian flow throughout the space.
Via Collective is honored to continue work on this monumental project and looks forward to playing a role in improving the experience of Penn Station for all.
