The second NYC Women in Business Busting Barriers event was a huge success, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who braved the muggy weather to join us for an evening filled with inspiration and empowerment. I was thrilled to share my story as an entrepreneur and learned from the other remarkable panelists. Each woman brought her unique perspective, and I always walk away from these events enriched by their experiences. I know the enthusiastic audience felt the same way!
Hosted by Lena Rizkallah, I was honored to sit alongside three other extraordinary women: Erin Williams, Founder and CEO of Erin’s Faces; Gracelyn Woods, COO and Co-Owner of Bellweather Agency; Ayat Masoud, Esq., Co-Owner of Ayat Restaurants. Each panelist shared their personal narratives, highlighting the challenges they faced and the lessons they learned along the way. Their insights were not only motivating but also a testament to the power of community, resilience, and the importance of wayfinding in our personal and professional lives.
Gracelyn Woods candidly shared her experience of recognizing that the fast-paced lifestyle of her previous career didn’t serve her and how she found the courage to step back and seek out a path that aligned better with her values. This process of self-discovery is a powerful experience, reminding us that the best direction is the one that leads us back to our core principles. It’s a lesson that we can apply not just in business, but in every aspect of our lives.
Ayat Masoud’s illustrated that the ‘perfect NYC woman’ is someone who stays true to her foundation while pursuing her heart’s desires. Her belief in building community through shared experiences, particularly food sharing during turbulent times, resonated with many in attendance. Creating environments where people feel connected and supported, fostering a sense of belonging that enhances the overall experience of our lives.
Erin Williams captivated us with her story of wanting to use her gifts to highlight everyone’s unique beauty. She spoke about how her vulnerabilities shaped her mission and brand, reinforcing the idea that embracing our true selves can lead to profound connections with others. This message resonates deeply with our commitment to design spaces that reflect authenticity and encourage self-expression.
The panel discussion concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where audience members shared their own challenges and aspirations. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and support, demonstrating the power of collective sharing. I appreciate being a part of an experience where connecting with new people can foster potential collaborations. This is precisely what the Busting Barriers Series aims to achieve—creating a supportive community where women can uplift one another and break down barriers together.
