Signage Guidelines

With over 70 medical offices in the Hudson Valley, Westchester and Queens, NewYork-Presbyterian required a standard system for exterior and interior wayfinding and signage. Through site visits, review of site plans and elevations, and coordination with NYPMG stakeholders, we worked through an approach that created the full design & implementation of the program.

Our process included systematically grouping locations together and utilizing the group with the largest diversity of sign types to build out the signage guidelines. Beginning with an audit of all locations, we determined the ‘typical’ conditions including Site IDs, Building IDs, Entrance Information, Directories and Directional Signage. Standard materials, layouts and fabrication techniques were considered and presented. These guidelines informed the process beyond the initial location install and were adapted to reflect the unique architectural conditions and systems as the full system was rolled out.
