NYC Department of Citywide Administration
Signage Recommendations & Policy Document
The NYC Department of Citywide Administration (DCAS) manages 52 city buildings, most with unique ownership, construction type, age, and visitor audience. This range of factors makes designing a system that could work across all buildings challenging.
We took a deep dive into understanding the network’s organization, systems, stakeholders, processes, and architectural conditions with the goal of standardizing signage and communication. The outcome of this study was a report outlining interior wayfinding recommendations, ADA Signage policy, and best practices for a variety of DCAS client user groups including, but not limited to, facilities and space management. The study serves as the basis for a full guidelines package.
