NYU Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center
Signage, Wayfinding, Environmental Branding
The NYU Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center (MSVPC) is a 45,000 SF facility in Industry City, Brooklyn. Via Collective developed signage, wayfinding, and environmental branding for the MSVPC. The design activates the floors, walls, and overhead space with painted graphics inspired by vernacular signage throughout the rest of Industry City. Bold, colorful department graphics on floors and walls mimic production gaffing tape, complemented by edge-colored wall signs. Wayfinding elements explore the fundamentals of photography through light, translucency, and focus. The entry corridor is lined with iconic, suspended, illuminated neon-like signage that announces the production stages. The technique is also reinterpreted along the walls of the TV studios as dramatic, large-scale illuminated letters.
