As of January 1, 2014, the Polytechnic Institute is now the New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering, reintroducing the discipline to NYU after a 40 year absence. Via Collective will be working with NYU to rebrand the school’s Brooklyn MetroTech campus to align with the NYU identity. Unlike the university’s Washington Square campus, the Brooklyn MetroTech campus sits within the larger business district of downtown Brooklyn where the school’s buildings lack differentiated architecture or identity signage. Our primary goal will be to conduct user research and onsite analysis to leverage signage, mapping, and graphics to establish a sense of place and strong visual identity for NYU in downtown Brooklyn.
