Via Collective (formerly The Office of Katie Osborn) is thrilled to announce that the East Side Access project is now part of our current portfolio. We are joining the General Engineering Consultant (GEC) team, a joint venture of Parsons Brinckerhoff (now WSP USA), Parsons Corp, and STV. Katie began design work on this decades-long project during her tenure at Calori & Vanden-Eynden, and is proud to continue her involvement through the construction phase as Principal of Via Collective.
The MTA’s East Side Access project will create a new Long Island Rail Road concourse at Grand Central Terminal which will serve approximately 160,000 passengers per day. This new addition will reduce congestion at Penn Station, transfers at Jamaica Station, and overcrowding on the 7 subway line.
The new wayfinding program for the East Side Access project aligns with the original Grand Central Terminal wayfinding system designed by Massimo Vignelli. The result will be consistent graphics and messaging throughout the entire terminal, providing a cohesive experience for visitors. During the construction phase of this project, Via Collective will continue to work closely with the GEC to ensure the original design intent of the system is implemented.
