New York University Grey Art Museum
Interior Wayfinding & Signage, Environmental Graphics, Iconography Design
The Grey Art Museum, guardian of New York University’s extensive art collection since 1975, boasts over 6,000 objects. With its recent relocation to 18 Cooper Square, the museum has embraced a larger, more visible space that enhances its ability to engage the public.
Situated on the entire ground floor of a historic brick and iron building in the NoHo Historic District, the museum now features prominent identity graphics on the storefront façade, fostering a strong connection with the bustling pedestrian traffic. These branded graphics extend to the reception desk, welcoming visitors as they enter the gallery.
Inside, thoughtfully placed directional iconography guides visitors throughout the museum, ensuring a seamless experience. The simple, monochromatic signs with vinyl wall applications create a flexible system that can be easily replicated for future expansions.
