Interior Wayfinding & Signage
The Joyce F. Brown Academic Building, winner of the 2017 New York Award for Excellence in Design, establishes a bold new presence for SUNY’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Collaborating with SHoP Architects, we implemented a comprehensive wayfinding system that celebrates the building’s multi-layered glass facade and light-filled interiors. Our approach honors the architectural openness, utilizing vertical circulation and clear sightlines to reduce the need for excessive signage. By seamlessly connecting ten floors of classrooms and labs to the existing campus, the program ensures intuitive navigation for students and faculty alike. Completed in late fall 2025, this LEED-certified “beacon” effectively brings the outside in while unifying FIT’s identity in the fashion district.
