2022 Year in Review

by | Dec 13, 2022 | Collective Updates

As this year comes to a close, we want to express our gratitude to our colleagues, clients, and partners. Through these collaborations, we have accomplished strong wayfinding solutions focused on accessibility and inclusivity that work for New Yorkers in this post-pandemic world. We have a number of multi-year projects that are on the brink of opening, and a roster of great new projects starting up in 2023.

CONNECTING NEW YORK
The newly renovated Long Island Railroad Train Hall at Penn Station has opened! Construction is ongoing and the complete wayfinding program continues to be installed through the new year, however, passengers are already experiencing the soaring new ceilings and improved lighting conditions already. It’s been a privilege to be a part of the award-winning AECOM design team since the project’s inception in 2019.

Another exciting project opening soon is Grand Central Madison, bringing Long Island Railroad service to Grand Central Terminal. Original proposals began in 1963, construction started in 2008, and is scheduled for the end of 2022. The station includes 8 new tracks that span from 42nd to 48th Street and will reduce travel times to and from Manhattan’s east side and ease congestion at Penn Station. As part of the wayfinding program, testing has been in progress prior to opening and the MTA has unveiled stunning new artwork that was commissioned for the space.

2023 & BEYOND
We start the new year with a number of new projects including a collaboration with Studio V Design + Planning, where we will expand New York State Canal Corporation’s Reimagine the Canals initiative through the development of new branding and signage guidelines. Continuing our work on parks, we’re teaming with WRT to develop the signage program for Guy Park Manor in Amsterdam, New York, a project that will transform this historic location into a public park with educational facilities.

Expanding our work in the healthcare sector with Montefiore Medical Center and we continue to expand into education with our long-time client, New York University, this time developing a branding and wayfinding system for the new Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center. And we are thrilled to welcome new clients Public Prep and Richard McElhiney Architects LLC to our roster.
