Grand Central Madison is open for business! After decades of planning, design, and construction, we are thrilled to see that Grand Central Madison, previously referred to as East Side Access, now brings Long Island Railroad service to Grand Central Terminal. The station includes 8 new tracks that span from 42nd to 48th Street and will reduce travel times to and from Manhattan’s east side, easing congestion at Penn Station. Additionally, connections from Metro-North to Long Island are now a transfer within Grand Central, vs a 15-minute subway connection.
The wayfinding program is based on the original design of Grand Central Terminal, aligning the nomenclature, icons, and placement to create a consistent brand across the station providing a cohesive experience for visitors. The fully accessible station allows for access from the platform level to the concourse, to connections to Metro North, Subway, and street levels. Access to Madison Concourse is available from the Dining Concourse, 43rd Street, and 47th Street. Additional ADA access is available at 44th and 48th Street.
